The parasites are locally host specific in a certain area and may be restricted to a particular host, while in another area, be exclusive to a different host.
I live and work in the Kogelberg area of the South West Cape of South Africa, where the dominant vegetation is Fynbos. Easy to recognise, it is not as readily defined. As a whole, it is most inclusively an evergreen, hard-leafed shrubland, occuring on nutrient-poor acidic soil. Most stands of Fynbos contain a great diversity of species and bulbs are normally plentiful.
